Bio

Erik Tanouye is a writer, performer, and comic in New York.

He has been a house performer at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre since 2003. He is currently the Director of Student Affairs at the UCB Training Center, where he also teaches improv and sketch.

Here are some facts about him:

  • He writes for the weekend sketch comedy show Beneath Gristedes at the UCB Theatre.
  • He performs improv with the group Bastian on Tuesday nights at the UCB Theatre.
  • He was a contributor to the Onion News Network.
  • He directed improv shows by “I Eat Pandas” and “T.J. Monkeys.”
  • He co-wrote and appeared in the sketch comedy shows “Proceed With Honor” and “Red Christmas.”
  • He performed stand-up at different venues in New York, including the roof of the Gershwin Hotel (and more frequently the bar in the hotel’s lobby).
  • He dabbles in photography, guitar playing, and web programming.
  • He used to work in film exhibition.
  • He has belonged to a gym, although he does not currently have a membership.
  • He grew up in Maryland.
  • He went to college in New Hampshire.
  • He moved to New York.
